Suvereto is a town nestled between the Cornia river valley and the first uplands of Colline Metallifere, with ancient walls which reveal its medieval origins. From here, you can admire the Tyrrhenian Sea and the great quantity of olive groves and vineyards which draw its unique profile.But the true protagonists of this landscape are the cork oaks (sughere): the name Suvereto comes from such plants, which we find in the town crest as well.
As soon as you arrive, you will not be surprised to know that Suvereto has already been in the list of the most beautiful towns of Italy for some years.
Suvereto has always been a perfect place for agriculture, livestocks and forestry activities, as well as offering a great variety of landscapes; the provincial park of Montioni, for example, is perfect for trekking, mountain bike and horse lovers. In all the surrounding area, moreover, you can appreciate several species of animals and plants.

Other sectors which make Suvereto a top destination are craftsmanship and tourism: the mild climate makes it possible for you to enjoy the several events organized in every season, from the famous Sagra del Cinghiale, in December, where you can taste delicious wild boar recipes, to Calici di Stelle (in summer) and Calici di San Silvestro (at New Year’s Eve), where local wines are protagonists. During Palio delle Botti the participants challenge their physical abilities twice a year, in May and on August 14th, at night.The cycle of events called “Estate Suveretana” is rich in culture and it always brings many important names to the town; if you are interested in medieval times do not miss the Serate Medievali, a dive in history: you could even see a medieval style wedding, a real civil wedding celebrated in the famous Chiostro di San Francesco with bride, groom and their friends and relatives wearing medieval clothes – mayor included!

When you have visited every single corner of this wonderful town, remember that we are not very far from the beautiful beaches of Baratti and parco della Sterpaia, the history and art of Massa Marittima and Volterra, the Archaelogical Mines Park of San Silvestro of Campiglia Marittima and the Etruscan Tombs of Populonia, without forgetting Piombino, with its beautiful historical centre and the harbour from where you can sail to Elba Island, Sardinia and Corsica, or San Vincenzo, from where you can leave for a one-day trip to Capraia, Pianosa and Giglio islands.
